This hike starts in Kirchdorf and follows the river to the hamlet of Habach. (Here you can take a short detour to visit a pretty little chapel.) Continue via Stockergraben up to the Hacher farmhouse, where the hiking trail to Kalkstein starts. Pause to enjoy the superb views of Leukental valley, Kitzbüheler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser mountain range. The trail takes you past two farmhouses (Obingalm and Heisenalm) to Bruggwirtsalm, from where you can already see your destination: Baumooskogel, at 1506 meters the tallest peak of the Vorderer Kalkstein range. The summit cross affords spectacular panorama views. On the way back, you walk through beautiful alpine pastures towards St. Johann in Tirol. In Scheffau follow the signs to Haberberg in Kirchdorf.
TIP: Don't forget to bring plenty of water and food as there are no serviced mountain huts along the way!
