Die Tour startet im Zentrum von Ebbs und führt über den Musikantensteig über die Ritzau Alm zur Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte. Von dort läuft man über den Höhenweg entlang des Zahmen Kaisers bis zur Hochalm. Trittsicherheit ist dort Pflicht, da man immer wieder Geröllfelder quert. Von der Hochalm geht es weiter zum Stripsenjochhaus. Von dort geht es bis Hinterbärenbad bergab. Über den steilen Steig bis zum Hans-Berger-Haus und weiter zum Hinterbärenbad, auch Anton-Karg-Haus genannt. Die restliche Strecke verläuft dann zum Großteil durch das 2016 zum schönsten Platz Österreichs gewählte Kaisertal, vorbei an zahlreichen Almen und Gasthäusern. Nach der Sparchenstiege (Kaiseraufstieg-Treppen) läuft man dann die letzten Kilometer am Fuß des Zahmen Kaisers zurück bis nach Ebbs.
