From the top station of the Bergeralm cable car you can reach the Nösslachjoch in just a few steps. Due to its central location, when you reach the summit you have a great view over the entire Wipptal and in particular over the Gschnitztal with its high, glaciated peaks. After you have enjoyed the magnificent panorama, the path continues, always gently downhill, first over colourful, untouched alpine bushes, later through mowers and alpine pastures - especially in autumn you can experience a unique spectacle of colour. Finally you reach the forest, now the Nösslachjochhütte is not far away. The last few metres past the former mine shafts are still to be mastered, then it's done and the hut keeper is already waiting with the odd bite to eat. After a stop for refreshments the last part of the tour is still to be mastered. This leads up and down a forest path above Nösslach to the Bergeralmmittelstation. From there you can take the cable car back to the car park, but for the very hardworking there is also the possibility to descend the beautiful trail on foot.
DIRECTIONS From the car park at the bottom station of the Bergeralmbahn, take the gondola up to the middle station, then continue with the Hoher Turm-Bahn to the top station just below the Nösslachjoch. The last metres to the summit of the Nösslachjoch still have to be done on foot, then the highest point of the tour is already reached. Now you go gently downhill on the beautiful trail with the No. 40, over mountain meadows, alpine pastures and mowers. The path is well trodden and after a while widens to a field path. Finally you gradually reach a denser forest and leave the field path again by crossing a fence. Immediately behind the fence is a former mine shaft, from here the trail continues through dense spruce forests to the Nösslachjochhütte. After a short stop for refreshments, the hike continues north along a forest path (no. 46) to the Bergeralm middle station, from where the gondola brings the hiker back down to the valley.
TIP OF THE AUTHOR The area around the Nösslachjoch is always a true berry paradise in late summer. Cranberries are just waiting to be picked.
If you are looking for a greater sporting challenge, you can also do without the lift and ascend on foot from the valley or middle station. There is also a beautiful path leading up parallel to the lift.
